About the Event

I am honored to be collaborating as a singer with A'lante, the award-winning Austin-based music and dance ensemble on their  first production at the Mexican American Cultural Center, where they are resident artists under the city’s new Latino Artist Access Program. The flamenco troupe plans to use the MACC’s central plaza, or zocalo, to begin the show with a parade evoking Semana Santa processions in Andalucia, flamenco’s traditional home.  Audience and performers will then proceed into the theater together, accompanied by a marching band directed by Oliver Steck, of the Moon Tower Brass Band.

Audiences will be invited to sing along, chant, or clap at various points throughout the show, which presents a variety of traditional flamenco dances that cover a wide range of the musical palette, featuring some Arabic-influenced dances as well.

"This project is truly an adventure rather than just a show--it's called Procession, and it's about how public gatherings affect us, heightening our emotional responses and making us feel closer through shared experiences. These days it's so easy to feel isolated that I really wanted to celebrate togetherness, using flamenco music and dance AND some amazing guest artists." - Olivia Chacon, Artistic Director

the Show runs on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 4pm. For more details about show times and ticket prices, please visit A'LANTE FLAMENCO
