About the Event
Vincent intimately relates the life story of the iconic painter, Vincent Van Gogh, from the perspective of his brother Theo. Based on actual letters between the pair, the play goes beyond biography of the misunderstood artist who cut off his own ear by revealing the bigger meaning and significance of Van Gogh’s life – a symbol of inspiration, courage, passion, and the lust for life that art kindles in all of us.
Penfold co-founders Ryan Crowder and Nathan Jerkins alternate in the play’s single, extraordinary role originated by Leonard Nimoy. The production also features an original score by Austin's local French jazz band, Julie Slim & RendezVous, including an original accordion instrumental by Shirley Johnson as well as some RendezVous repertoire sung live by Julie Slim.
Tickets to Vincent are $16-$31. The show runs Thursdays through Sundays from March 26 to April 11, 2020.
The show is most recommended for ages high school and up. It runs about 1:10.
